Chase will share his humorous and engaging style to recount the unique contributions of this legendary entertainer and Abel, Buffalo’s “First Lady of Cabaret,” will sing some of Tucker’s signature songs, including ‘Some of These Days,” “They’ll be Some Changes Made,” and “Red Hot Mamma.”

Ukrainian-born Tucker embodied 20th century American entertainment, first singing for tips at her parents kosher restaurant in Hartford, Connecticut, and eventually appearing in blackface, on the vaudeville stage, in burlesque, in the Ziegfeld Follies, on Broadway, on the Las Vegas strip, in Hollywood film, on radio, and finally, on television. Today, the Tucker legacy is obscured by the memory of her farewell television appearances, done later in life when she could no longer sing; and by Bette Midler, who has borrowed from and embellished on the true Tucker persona. Chase and Abel will seek to recreate what was magical about the late great Sophie Tucker — gone, but not forgotten! This should be a memorable evening!
